My name is William "Randy" Bates, Jr, and I believe I have the required experience to represent the citizens of the 139th District. I have been married to my wife, Glenda, for over 32 years, and we have raised three wonderful children
I earned a degree from the Fisher College of Business at the Ohio State University and a Law Degree from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University.
I am founder and partner at the Law Firm of Bates & Coleman. We concentrate in Public Finance, and in 2014, we ranked Top 5 in the state of Texas of all public finance law firms.
For over 20 years, I served on the board of trustees of the Lone Star College System and Board Chair for 7 years. As Board Chair, I led the effort to build a campus in District 139 between Carver and Eisenhower High Schools. This campus is three in one: 1/3 traditional community college, 1/3 work force development, and 1/3 early college.
For the last 4 years, I served as the National President of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.
I believe my background makes me uniquely qualified to represent to residents of District 139.
