Houston GLBT Political Caucus Endorses Randy Bates in Texas House of Representatives District 139 Race
I will continue to fight for everyone’s right to equality. We should all have an opportunity to bring our ideas to the table to not only move District 139 forward, but to move our state forward.-Randy Bates
On February 3, 2016 Randy Bates was honored to receive the endorsement of the Houston GLBT Political Caucus. The Caucus has always stood up for the equality of others while working to build up communities and become an active voice within our city. While there were many choices in the field and at first no recommendation was made by the screening committee, many within the membership stood to attest to the many great things Randy has done for children and coalition building within neighborhoods.
Randy Bates mentioned the following after hearing the endorsement:
“I am honored and humbled to have received the Houston GLBT Political Caucus endorsement. District 139 will continue to be a welcoming district for all. Former State Representative and now Mayor Sylvester Turner worked tirelessly to build relationships in every community. I want to continue building relationships, rather than exclude individuals from having an open conversation about how to tackle our state’s challenges: from our budget, to education, to youth homelessness, and much more”.
The Houston GLBT Political Caucus endorsement follows other organizations who have chosen to support Randy Bates to be the next State Representative for House District 139. The AFL-CIO, Harris County Young Democrats, Texas State Teachers Association, Houston Black Area Democrats, ministers, and many community leaders have all stepped forward in support.
Early voting begins February 16, 2016 and Election Day is March 1, 2016. To learn more about Randy Bates and his race for Texas House of Representatives District 139, please visit www.randybates2016.com, follow us on Facebook, Twitter (@ElectRandyBates) and Instagram (randybates2016) for more info.
