HOUSTON, TX – This week, the Texas State Teachers Association announced their choice to replace Mayor Turner in the Texas State House of Representative, District 139 race. Mr. Randy Bates', response to the news of this endorsement, "This endorsement means so much to me because I have dedicated my life to ensuring quality education is represented throughout District 139". I'm humbled by this tremendous sign of confidence they have placed in our ability to continue quality leadership in District 139.
There is a special place in my heart for teachers. They are the foundation of each and every profession. Whether you are a doctor or a construction worker, we have all been taught by a teacher. Without teachers no other profession exists. I would like to thank the membership for placing their trust and believing in my vision to move District 139 forward. As a former educator and former Lone Star Board Trustee and Chair for the Lone Star College System, I will continue to fight to bring better quality education for all students from Pre-K through Higher Education. I look forward to building a strong relationship with all school districts within District 139”.
The Texas State Teachers Association endorsement comes in addition to other endorsements announced in January. The AFL-CIO, Houston Black American Democrats, religious leaders, and community leaders from across District 139 have also announced their endorsement for Randy Bates.
